The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro, and the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of that nation, Nguyen Phu Trong, held a fraternal telephone conversation, after the celebration of the XIII Congress of the Vietnamese political organization.
Army General congratulated friend Phu Trong on his reelection as head of the Party. He praised the results of the conclave and thanked the brother country for its unconditional support for the Cuban Revolution.
Vietnamese academics and intellectuals nominated the Cuban International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, Henry Reeve, for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
Professors from senior educational centers joined this initiative, including researchers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, attached to the National University of Vietnam, based in Hanoi, and the Interdisciplinary Institute for Culture, Language and Development of Education .
The priority given by the Revolution, since its very beginnings, to create the human capital necessary to promote the country’s scientific development, building required infrastructure and inserting ourselves, almost three decades later, into the nascent biotechnology industry under Fidel's guidance, made it possible for Cuba to respond immediately to the health emergency caused by the arrival of COVID-19 to the country, last March.
