Cuba condemns interference in China’s internal affairs

Over the last few weeks we have noted with concern the succession of violent demonstrations and acts of vandalism in the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, encouraged from abroad, attempting to disrupt the political, economic and social order, and create insecurity in the People’s Republic of China.

I would like to convey my gratitude to Chile, particularly to Santiago de Chile, for its warm welcome.

A few days ahead of the commemoration of the 165th anniversary of the birth of our National Hero Jose Martí this January 28, Cuba takes pride in being part of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Its foundation crystallized the message of independence and unity of the region contained in Martí’s essay entitled “Our America”.

This Sunday, July 30, 2017, during elections for the National Constituent Assembly in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the people demonstrated to the world that they are in full possession of their sovereign rights, and are firmly on the side of peace, in defense of citizen security, of independence and self-determination in their homeland.

Over the last few weeks, international media have reported the intention of OAS General Secretary Luis Almagro Lemes to travel to Havana, in order to receive a "prize" invented by an illegal grouplet, which operates in concert with the ultra-right wing Foundation for Pan American Democracy, created in the days of the 7th Summit of the Americas in Panama, to channel efforts and resources in opposition to legitimate, independent governments in Our America.
