Speech by President Miguel Diaz-Canel before the UN General Assembly.

Havana, September 24. Yesterday, the Cuban President participated virtually in the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his speech, Díaz-Canel emphasized that "We are living uncertain times. Under the demolishing impact of a pandemic that has worsened structural inequities and the global crisis, the role of multilateralism and the United Nations becomes ever more important. And international cooperation has been insufficient ".

Cuban Ambassador exchanges with the Governor-General of New Zealand.

Wellington. September 23. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés participated in the farewell reception of the Governor-General of New Zealand, Her Excellency the Right Honorable Dame, Patsy Reddy, who ends her duties next October.

During the event, the Ambassador held a broad exchange with the Governor-General, who has visited Cuba and maintains a permanent interest in our reality.

She was interested in the march of Cuban vaccines against Covid 19 and expressed admiration for the progress made.

President Díaz-Canel visited Mexico and participated in the CELAC Summit.

The Cuban President participated as a special guest in the celebrations for the independence of Mexico and held a friendly meeting with his counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whom he thanked for the traditional solidarity of Mexico and his repeated condemnation of the US blockade against Cuba.

Díaz-Canel also participated in the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which also spoke out against Washington's aggressive policy against the island.

 

Cuba is preparing for the gradual opening of its borders.

The director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad of the Foreign Ministry, Ernesto Soberón, said that the extension, automatic and free, of an uninterrupted stay outside the country, beyond 24 months, as well as the condition of residents in the country. territory, will remain in effect until further notice.
