Cuba asks US to cease its discrediting campaign.

On Monday this week, Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs general director in charge of US affairs Carlos Fernández de Cossío, summoned the United States Charge d’Affaires, Timothy Zúñiga-Brown.

Cubaminrex, Havana, April 5th, 2021.- On Monday afternoon, the General Director in charge of the United States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, summoned the United States Charge d'Affaires, Timothy Zúñiga-Brown, to whom he conveyed the rejection of the misleading and politicized allegations that the 2020 State Department report on Human Rights made about Cuba.

Editorial: A decree on national programme for the advancement of women.

Leaders can read speeches, devoid of action it will all be rhetoric. José Marti once said, “The best way to say is to do.” We are encouraged by Cuba’s action to decree women advancement. President Miguel Díaz-Canel last week signed a decree establishing a national programme for the advancement of women. The programme addresses seven key areas that include economic empowerment.

The Mast, 30 March 2021. CUBAN President Miguel Díaz-Canel has signed a decree establishing a national programme for the advancement of women. According to an official statement from the Cuban government, the programme addresses seven key areas that include economic empowerment. “Once more, the Cuban Revolution has shown that respect for women and their dignity holds one of the highest places among its core principles, along with equal opportunities for their advancement,” he said. “This programme is based on the rigorous observance by the Cuban State of the international agreements and instruments for women’s rights while taking into consideration the challenges presented in the assessments of the action plan of the Republic of Cuba monitoring to the fourth conference of the UN on women.”
