Abuja, March 3, 2020. Clara Margarita Pulido Escandell, presented in a solemn hearing before the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Credentials that accredit her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in this country.
During the ceremony, which took place in the Presidential Village, the Ambassador of Cuba expressed her pride in having been designated to Nigeria and pointed out the importance of the deep historical ties reverting to the relations between both nations, warning about the role played by the African slaves in the struggle for the independence of Cuba. He also thanked President Buhari for supporting the Island in his fight against the US blockade.
For his part, the Nigerian President referred to the cultural similarities between the two countries, which should serve as an impulse to work together, especially in trade, and added that Cuba's efforts in the development of medicine and engineering could provide momentum for the development of Nigeria, while recalling that his country has always received support from Cuba in international forums for many years, ensuring that bilateral relations will be strengthened.
