Ambassador of Cuba denounces blockade against Cuba

SRI LANKA, June 4, 2018. - The Sri Lankan newspaper Daily Mirror, one of the largest circulations in the country, published today in its digital and printed versions, an interview with the Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, made by the prominent journalist Lasanda Kurukulasuriya.

The interview was an opportune space to denounce the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba and its wide extraterritorial nature that also affects other countries, on which concrete examples were provided.

The Ambassador expressed her gratitude to the people and government of Sri Lanka for their continued support to Cuba in its fight against the blockade. Last year Sri Lanka voted again in favor of the Cuban resolution in the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The article also focused on the historical significance of the 9th Session of the National Assembly of People's Power, where Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez was elected as the new president of the Councils of State and Ministers, under the leadership of Raúl Castro at the head of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The Ambassador referred to the continuity of our revolutionary process with the new leadership of the country and the broad support given by the Cuban people to this electoral process, which had high attendance rates at the polls.

In addition, the Ambassador highlighted the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation that join our countries and peoples.
