Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc and Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelino Medina Gonzalez co-chaired the fourth political consultation at the Deputy Foreign Minister level in Hanoi on September 5.
At the meeting, Marcelino Medina lauded Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance and comprehensive international integration, and its active contributions to peace and stability in the region.
National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, received outgoing Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz, appreciating the diplomat’s contributions to Vietnam-Cuba special traditional relations during his term.
She expressed her delight at the growth of bilateral relations over the past years, noting that political ties have continually been enhanced through the maintenance of delegation exchanges at all levels between the countries’ Parties, States, parliaments, ministries, sectors and localities.
President Trần Đại Quang urged the Vietnamese and Cuban Parties and States to continuously direct ministries and relevant departments to step up the existing bilateral co-operation mechanisms and refine a legal framework for stable and long-term collaboration while meeting with the Cuban NA Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernández.
Quang hailed the outcomes of the talks between the top Cuban legislator and Vietnamese NA Chairwoman Ngân, and hoped the two parliaments will consolidate ties in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.
