Press Release: Cuba participates in the 2017 UN International Bazaar

New York, 25 May 2017. Despite the rainy weather, as each year, our culture and idiosyncrasy was present today at the UN International Bazaar.

The Cuban booth, represented by members of the Cuban Mission, irradiated in this event of cultural exchange, much humanism, solidarity and Cuban spirit.   With delicious typical dishes and our traditional Guantanamera, Cuba’s space attracted many people from different nationalities and UN officials.

New York, 23 May 2017. As part of the Forum on Financing for Development under the auspices of ECOSOC, and after remembering the validity of the address by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, at the UN General Assembly in October 1979, the Minister Counselor of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jorge Alberto Ferrer, considered with figures the way in which international order inequalities are increasing, despite the commitments of the Addis Ababa Agenda.

New York, 23 May 2017. ThePermanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations celebrated Africa Day and the fifty fourth anniversary of the constitution of the African Union, with the presence of Ambassadors and other diplomatic officials from this continent.

Permanent Representatives from Caribbean countries and theBolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), also participated in the reception held at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters.

As part of the Event on Connectivity and Innovation convened by the President of the General Assembly, the delegate of Cuba, Yilianne Sánchez Rodríguez, referred today to the digital divide between developed and developing countries which makes it impossible not only to have connectivity, but also to use technologies for sustainable development.
