Cuban culture is welcomed by the American people, while the blockade restricts its access.

New York, October 2nd, 2018. Since the triumph of the Revolution, the cultural policy of the revolutionary government has been guided by the indissoluble association of the concepts of culture and freedom, present in the ideas of the major figures of our history. Therefore, the development of culture in all its manifestations is a priority for the Cuban State, as demonstrated in the cultural events held at the Kennedy Center in Washington in May 2018.

Despite the US blockade, Cuba strengthens its government policies in favor of the youth, the disabled persons, the elderly and the family.

New York, October 2nd, 2018. Cuba participated today in the debate on Item 28: Social development; a) Implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the twenty-fourth special session of the General Assembly; and b) Social development, including questions relating to the world social situation and to youth, ageing, disabled persons and the family, from the agenda of the United Nations.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel developed an intensive working agenda in New York.

New York, September 29, 2018. The President of Cuba Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez arrived in New York City on September 23 to attend the General Debate of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly. He developed a broad bilateral agenda with representatives of several sectors of the American society, interested not only in listening to the projects of the Cuban president - who has only six months in office - but also improving the relations between both nations, hindered by the hostile policy of the current North American leader Donald Trump.
