PORT OF SPAIN.– Cuba's ability to promote sustainable development was recently recognized by the UN's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC.
Diane Quarless, director of the organization, commented that Cuba is in the vanguard of economic thought and development efforts in the region.
HE Fernando Quirós, Peru's new Ambassador to Thailand, on a courtesy visit to the Cuban Embassy in Bangkok. He thanked the Cuban medical brigade for its support after recent natural disasters in that Latin American country, which caused numerous human losses. He worked for several years at the Peruvian Embassies in Caracas and Geneva, where he became friendly and maintained excellent working relations with prominent Cuban diplomats in those places.
