The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the grave problems and colossal challenges human kind was already faced with and exposed new threats, including the frailty of health care systems. The promotion, protection and respect of the right to health are particularly relevant in the current context.
Sri Lanka, February 23, 2021. - His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, received the Cuban Ambassador, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, at the Presidential Secretariat.
Both parties highlighted the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as expressed their interest in continuing to strengthen them.
The world’s situation is ever more dangerous and challenging. Now more than ever before, the very survival of the human species is at stake. International peace and security are being threatened by conflicts; predatory and non-conventional wars; acts of aggression and regime change attempts; and an arms race that is dilapidating enormous resources that are indispensable for the sustainable development of our peoples.
