Message from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the African Cuban Friendship Association (AACAF)

Havana, March 12, 2019.
Year 61 of the Revolution.

Dear friends:

The Cuban Revolution, under the internationalist leadership of Fidel Castro, remained genuinely along with the Africans in the fight against racism and colonialism in Africa.

Solidarity, that feeling and attitude that magnifies men has kept our peoples and nations united. Cuba and Africa, Seychelles and Cuba, united in these noble sentiments, strengthen their historic bonds of friendship with the actions of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in this sister nation.

On January 16, 2019, the United States State Department announced the decision to suspend for only 45 days the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, “to conduct a careful review… in light of the national interests of the United States and efforts to expedite a transition to democracy in Cuba and include factors such as the Cuban regime’s brutal oppression of human rights and fundamental freedoms and its indefensible support for increasingly authoritarian and corrupt regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua.”
