Cuban Foreign Minister denounces inequality in fighting the pandemic

Havana, 12 January 2022. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the prevailing worldwide inequality between poor and rich countries in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rodriguez tweeted affirmed that “to date, only 9.5 percent of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose of some Covid-19 vaccine”, based on official data collected by the Oxford University and posted on its site.

Kingston, Jamaica, 11 January 2022. At a formal ceremony, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, welcomed the new Ambassador-designate of Cuba, His Excellency Mr. Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, at the headquarters of the local Chancellery.

During the meeting, parties exchanged opinions on the state of bilateral relations and the existing potential to continue expanding cooperation in other areas, in addition to the one practiced in the fields of health and education.

More than 9,700,000 Cubans vaccinated against Covid-19

Havana, 11 January 2022.  A total of 9,725,935 Cubans have received the complete vaccination scheme against Covid-19, accounting for 86.9 percent of the country's population (roughly 11.3 million).

According to official data from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), on January 9, 31,689,588 doses of the home-grown Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines had been administered in Cuba.

Cuba shows an alternative to Big Pharma hegemony, says Indian portal

New Delhi, 11 January 2022. Cuba shows its solidarity through the transfer of technology and delivery of vaccines to developing countries as an alternative to the hegemony of big pharmaceutical companies, according to the Indian portal People Dispatch.

Cuba has fully vaccinated more than 85 percent of its population, more than most rich countries, including the United States, despite the trade blockade that Washington has imposed on the Caribbean island for six decades, the website highlighted.

Cuban Embassy in Liberia receives visit of Assistant Minister of the Liberian Foreign Ministry

Monrovia, January 10, 2022 - The Assistant Minister for American Affairs of the Liberian Foreign Ministry, Honorable Maxwell P. Vah visited the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in this country where he was received by its Chief of Mission.

The main theme of his visit was to convey to the Cuban government his gratitude for its unconditional support to his country and to reaffirm the Liberian government's commitment to continue working for the prosperity of both peoples.
