Major Canadian Business Delegation to Attend Havana International Trade Fair

Ottawa, October 20- A large delegation of Canadian businessmen will be traveling to Cuba to attend the 35th International Trade Fair in Havana (FIHAV 2017), to be held from October 30 to November 3 at the Expocuba fairgrounds.

Canada´s official pavilion will showcase over 60 companies and institutions such as the Government of Ontario; Atlantic Canada  ̶ which represents Canada´s Eastern provinces and Export Quebec, from Quebec´s Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation.

Ms. Christine St-Pierre, Quebec´s Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, will lead the province´s business delegation. Ms. Christine St-Pierre will also inaugurate the Quebec government permanent office in Cuba, which will be located at the Embassy of Canada in the island. Quebec´s delegation will comprise 15 companies, one of them representing more than 30 food producers in the region.

On October 18, Export Quebec, at its headquarters in Montreal, hosted a meeting of Mrs. Mara Bilbao, Consul General of Cuba in that city and Mrs. Cristina Ramos, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Cuban Embassy in Ottawa, with a group of entrepreneurs as they prepare for FIHAV 2017. Both officials provided useful information on how to do business with Cuba and promoted the main events that will take place during the trade fair, including the 2nd Foreign Investment Forum.

Canada  ̶ one of Cuba´s major trading partners and one of the first foreign investors in the island ̶   has been attending FIHAV for more than two decades.
