In its Tuesday edition from October 24th , in the section titled "More Headlines News" the Liberian newspaper The New Dawn published the article "Cuban Embassy here wants U.S blockade lifting". The libel is based on information transmitted the previous day at a press conference by the Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, on the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than fifty years, unilaterally, by the government of the United States against Cuba.
In the framework of the International Campaign to Support Cuba against the Blockade that takes place annually in October, the Cuban Chargé d'Affaires in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, presented a draft resolution 71/5 entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba".
On Friday, October 20, the Second Secretary of the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Liberia, Carmen Maury Toledo, participated in the evening program "Afternoon Conversation" of the radio station Super Communication Network. With the presence of the Chancellor and other representatives of the Liberian Foreign Ministry, the Cuban Embassy in Liberia celebrated National Rebellion Day. They also participated in the activity the Minister of Defense, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, the Director General of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Senator Conmamy B. Wesseh, members of the Cuba-Liberia Friendship Association, graduates in Cuba, as well as the selected youth who will start this year medical studies in Cuba and representatives of the country's press.
