Message by the President of the People's Power National Assembly of the Republic of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, on the occasion of Africa Day. It is a great pleasure for me, on behalf of the Cuban Parliamentarians, to convey to the peoples of Africa our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of such a special celebration. Africa Day is as significant date for that continent as it is for Cuba, because of the deep ties that unite us.
Monrovia, May 25th, 2020.- On May 25th, the world celebrates “Africa Day”. The date commemorates the creation, in 1963, of the Organization for African Unity, the seed of the current African Union.
This day is a reason for true celebration in Cuba due to the indestructible historical, cultural, solidarity and cooperation links between the island and the countries of this continent.
Monrovia, May 19, 2020 - 125 years after the fall in combat, facing the sun, of the Cuban National Hero, José Martí, which took place in the fields of Dos Ríos, on May 19, 1895, the Cuban Embassy in Liberia joins the homage of all the Cuban people to his memory and example.
That day, Maximo Gomez wrote in his campaign diary: "We are already missing the best of our comrades and the soul we can say of the uprising".
Monrovia, May 17, 2020 - Within the activities carried out by the Cuban Diplomatic Mission in Liberia, in the framework of the "¨Africa Day" journey, we opened the section "Get to know Liberia". Through this section we intend to make available to everyone information about this country in West Africa, unknown to many people. We hope you enjoy this initiative which will allow us to expand our cultural heritage.
