On behalf of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples thanks the World Peace Council and the United States Coalition against Foreign Military Bases for the invitation to take part in this online conference, on the occasion last February 23 of the International Action Day against the Military Bases of the United States and NATO, declared at the First International Conference against the Military Bases of the United States and NATO held in Dublin, Ireland, in November, 2018.
Athens, February 28. A virtual event, in English and Spanish, was held for the International Day of Struggle against US and NATO Foreign Military Bases, organized by the World Peace Council and the Coalition against US Military Bases. The event was a continuation of the International Conference Against United States / NATO Military Bases, held from November 16 to 18, 2018 in Dublin, Ireland, where February 23, day of the anniversary of the Illegal occupation of Guantanamo, Cuba for the US, was declared as the International Day of Action against US and NATO military bases.
This Friday, February 26, 2021, the Third Round of the Dialogue on Human Rights between Cuba and the European Union met virtually, within the framework of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement between the Caribbean country and the European bloc. The respective delegations were chaired by Mr. Eamon Gilmore, special representative of the European Union for Human Rights, and María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, acting director general of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
At the meeting, which took place in a respectful and constructive atmosphere, issues related to civil and political rights, and economic, social and cultural rights were discussed; as well as multilateral cooperation and with the United Nations human rights mechanisms. The dialogue was guided by the mutual interest to exchange regarding the different realities and positions in relation to human rights issues.
Havana, February 25, 2021.- Marino Murillo Jorge, head of the Permanent Commission for the Implementation and Development of the Ordering Task, exchanged this Thursday on its main aspects with representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Cuba.
Murillo Jorge explained that this process has been implemented in a very complex economic moment, with many limitations due to the impact of the intensification of the United States blockade; the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic; the world economic situation and the restriction of foreign exchange earnings to the country.
