Athens, 24 November. An Act of tribute was held to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the third anniversary of his departure, organized by Cuba's friend Velissarios Kossivakis, with the contribution of his resident Cuban wife Leticia Suarez, and the Embassy of Cuba in Greece, at the Cinema theater Studio of the company New Star Art Cinema. The Cuban Ambassador to the Hellenic country Zelmys María Dominguez Cortina, the Professor of Modern History at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Thessaloniki Giorgos Margaritis, presented by Velissarios Kossivakis, took the floor at the event. In addition, the documentary "The Merit is to Be Alive" by Oto Miguel and Guzmán Guerrero was screened, and excerpts from historical speeches by Fidel Castro.
The event had extensive media coverage, before, during and after it on national TV, radio, internet, print and digital media. Articles on Fidel Castro were also published in the KKE newspaper and other alternative print and digital media.
A press interview was conducted before the start of the event to KKE Secretary General Dimitris Koutsoumpas, the Cuban Ambassador and Professor Margaritis, by ERT (National and Digital TV), Eurokinissi digital media and KKE newspaper Rizopastis and the radio station 902.gr.
Athens, 22 November. The Deputy Minister in charge of Economy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Fragogiannis received at the headquarters of the Ministry the ambassador of Cuba in Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina. The meeting covered the historical links between the Cuban and Greek peoples, as well as topics of mutual interest to promote bilateral relations in various areas such as tourism, biotechnology, sports, among others. Also the potential of business and investments in Cuba and the preparation of a possible Business Forum on the Caribbean island with the participation of Greek entrepreneurs. The good level of relations between the two countries was appreciated.
Athens, November 19th. Several members and supporters of the José Martí Cultural Association of Solidarity with Cuba, the group Todos Somos Venezuela, PAKS (Panhellenic Coordination of the Anti-War Movement) and the publisher House Diethnes Vima marched with a banner calling "the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba," on November 17, as part of a tide of more than 20,000 participants in a mass act and a march from the Athens Polytechnic to the US Embassy, which recalled the 46th anniversary of the so-called events of Polytechnic.
Athens, 18 November The photographic exhibition "José Martí with Greece in the Heart" was inaugurated in the activities room of the former city hall of Ikaria, in front of the monument to Icarus, in the same port of the city of Agios Kyrikos , capital of the island. At the important cultural event, organized by the mayor of Ikaria and the Embassy of Cuba in Greece, took the floor the mayor of the city Nikolas Kalamboyas, who welcomed those present and praised Martí's work; Member of the town council Nikos Lardas of the Communist Party (KKE), who expressed the solidarity of the People of Ikaria with Cuba; Cuban Ambassador Zelmys María Dominguez Cortina who thanked everyone for the presence and solidarity at a time of upsurge in the unjust US blockade against Cuba in the year of the 60th anniversary of the revolution. For his part the author of the expo Counsellor of the embassy José Oriol Marrero Martínez explained the concepts of it and gave those present an interesting tour of The life and work of Martí and his love for Greece.
Athens, November 8. Greece was present with a stand of the company SEA JETS in FIHAV 2019, Multisectoral Trade and Investment Fair, most important in Cuba and one of the most representative of Latin America and the Caribbean that was held from 4 to 8 November 2019 , at the EXPOCUBA exhibition grounds. It is the third year in a row that Greece has participated in this important event.
