Excellencies, Heads of State and Government;

I feel honored to bring into this virtual Summit the voice of Cuba, a small developing country, where workers in power struggle on a daily basis to achieve all the justice, which was the dream and commitment of the founding fathers of our nation.

Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states its strong rejection of the slanderous inclusion of Cuba in a US State Department list of countries which are allegedly not cooperating fully with US efforts against terrorism that was made public on May 13, 2020 and that was strongly rejected by President Miguel Díaz-Canel. US must lift its Cuba embargo to save lives amid COVID-19 crisis, say UN experts 

Geneva (30 April 2020) – UN human rights experts* today called on the United States to lift its economic and financial embargo on Cuba that is obstructing humanitarian responses to help the country’s health care system fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We urge the US Government to withdraw measures aimed at establishing trade barriers, and ban tariffs, quotas, non-tariff measures, including those which prevent financing the purchase of medicine, medical equipment, food and other essential goods,” they said.
