Meeting of the Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

Addis Ababa, 12 de marzo.  The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Ethiopia, H.E. Ms. Hirut Woldemarian welcomed the Cuban Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas to the Ministry.  Both parties exchanged on the present cooperation between both parties and the perspectives.

In attendance, the State Ministers of that portfolio, as well as the Ambassador designate to Cuba, H.E. Mr. Asfaw Dingamo.

Final parcial results of the Referendum in Cuba

The National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Cuba announced the final parcial results of the Referedum that allowed the appoval of the new Constitution of the country.

6 millions 816 169 Cubans voted YES which represents the 73,31%  of the total of the people registered to vote and  86,85% of the total of voters. The 7,60%  of the total of registered people voted NO.

This is a new victory.  Cuba has a modern supreme law in line with the aspirations of its people.

Cuban Ambassador meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives

Addis Ababa, 26 february.  The Ambasador of Cuba, H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas was received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Hon. Mr. Tagesse Chafo.

During the friendly meeting, both parties analized current development of mutual interest in the respective domestic environments, as well as on the international arena. 

African Union approved Resolution calling to the end of the US blockade on Cuba

Addia Ababa, 11 February 2019.  The XXXII Assembly of the African Union approved a Resolution entitled; " Resolution on the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America".

The text is based on the UN Resolition on the matter approved last November in New York and considers the blockade as an illegal, long standing and unjustifiable policy imposed on Cuba.

Cuban Ambassador meet the Health Minister of South Sudan

Addis Ababa.  The Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia and designate to the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas received at the Embassy, the Minister of Health of the last mentioned conuntry, H:E. Sr. Riek Gai Kok,

In a friendly atmosphere, both parties coincided in highlighting the historic links existing between both countries including the educational opportunities foe the South Sudanese youth in Cuba.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed the appreciation of her government for the consistent position of South Sudan against the embargo on Cuba.
