Ethiopian Generals paid homage to the Cubans fallen heroes

Addis Abeba, March 15th, 2018.  In the framework of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the jointly victory in the Ogaden, the Ethiopian  Retired Generals Seyoum Kassa and Wasihun Nigatu, accompanied by other veterans, paid tribute to the fallen Cubans in this country during a wreath lying ceremony at the Ethio-Cuban Friendship Park.

The Generals participated later in the day, in a Seminar held at new premises of the Cuban Embassy, where they exposed anecdotes on their experiences in the relationship with the Cuban officials and soldiers 40 years ago.

Event to mark the 40th. anniversary of the victory in the Ogaden

Addis Abeba, 15 March, 2018.  The event to mark the 40th anniversary of the jointly victory in the Ogaden was celebrated in the Cuba-Ethiopia Friendship Park presided by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs.Hirut Zemene and the Ambassador of Cuba, H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas.  Also in attendance, more than a hundred people including among them graduated from Cuba, Ethiopian military veterans, Cuban doctors and residents, members of the Diplomatic Corps, among others.

40th. anniversary of the victory in the Ogaden

On March 15, 1978, the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz announced in a speech that the Somali invaders withdraw from the Ethiopian territory and proclaimed the jointly victory of the Ethiopian and Cuban troops.

Today, we commemorate the 40th anniversary of that historical chapter. It is a moment to appreciate the participation on the events of thousands of Ethiopians and Cubans and particularly to celebrate the lives of the 163 Cubans and many Ethiopians fallen during the military campaigns.

The Cuban Embasy to Ethiopia celebrates the International Women´s Day

Addis Abeba.  The females within the Cuban and Ethiopian staff of the Embassy of Cuba in this country were recognized on the occasion of March 8th : the International Women´s Day.

The First Secretary of the diplomatic mission, Mr. German Acosta highlighted that for a second occasion in the history of the relations between Cuba and Ethiopia, the Cuban Embassy in this country is headed by a female.
