Addis Abeba, April 23, 2018. In the UN headquarters in Ethiopia took place the celebration of the Spanish Language Day. The Embassies of Spain and Latin America were in attendance.
Cuba showcased its tourists attractions, its traditional Guayaberas, crafts, food and Cuban cocktails such as the famous Mojito. #HacemosCuba.
Havana, 15 April 2018. The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey, laid a wreath flower in the African Heroes Park in Havana where are located the busts of about twenty former African leaders.
Accompanied by the Director of Subsaharan Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gisela García, the Deputy Chairperson received an explanation on the park since its inception, as well as of the importance to preserve the legacy of the heroes and heroines of the African continent.
Havana, April 19, 2018. The National Assembly of the People´s Power of Cuba elected H.E. Mr. Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez as the new President of the Council of State and Ministers. The parliamentary body also elected H.E. Mr. Salvador Valdés Mesa as the new First Vice President. The other Vice Presidents of the Council of State are: Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, H.E. Mrs. Gladys Bejerano Portela, H.E. Roberto Morales Ojeda, H.E. Mrs. Inés María Chapman Waught and H.E. Mrs. Beatriz Johnson.
Havana, 15 April 2018. The Vice President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Salvador Valdés Mesa received the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union, H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey, in the Palace of the Revolution.
During the meeting both leaders exchanged on the historic relations existing between Cuba and Africa and expressed their willigness to continue boosting the links within the framework of the AU Agenda 2063.
Havana, April 14, 2018. The Acting Foreign Minister of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Marcelino Medina welcomed the DCP of the African Union, H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey, in the framework of his official visit to Cuba.
During the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to continue strengthening relations as part of the Agenda 2063.
Mr. Quartey acknowledged the contribution of Cuba to the independence of various African countries and highlighted the cooperation programs established in several countries.
Cuba and the AU signed an MOU of cooperation in 2015.
