African Union Commission acknowledges the contribution of Cuba to Africa

Addis Ababa, June 20, 2019.  On the occasion of the reception of new medical equipment to the African Union clinic, the Deputy Chairperson of the AUC, H.E. Mr. Thomas Kwesi Quartey acknowledged the contribution of Cuba to the struggle against colonialism, the preservation of the sovereignty of various contries in the continent, as well as the medical services rendered by the Cubans to Africa for many decades.

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest terms the measures announced by the United States Government on 4 June 2019, further tightening the economic blockade imposed on Cuba for over 60 years, at a cost for the Cuban economy which amounted to over 134 billion dollars in 2018 at current prices, and to the figure of 933 billion dollars, taking into account the devaluation of the US dollar vis-à-vis the price of gold in the world market.

 

Cuba celebrates Africa Day in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, 7 June 2019.  The Embassy of Cuba to Ethiopia and the African Union celebrated Africa Day 2019 with the event "Afro Cuban Soirée: from the African Diaspora to the Mother Continent".  The Deputy Chairperson of the AUC, H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey was in attendance, as well as diplomats from Africa and other countries of the world, Ethiopians that studied in Cuba and the Cuban community.

First Vicepresiden of Cuba meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives of

Addis Ababa, 31 May 2019.  The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Ethiopia, Hon. Mr. Tagese Chafo received the First Vicepresident fo Cuba, H.E. Mr. Salvador Valdés Mesa.

Both parties exchanged on the experiences on both contries, as well as on the need to reinforce the Parlamentary exchanges between Cuba and Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa, 30 May 2019.  The First Vicepresident of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Salvador Valdés Mesa held a fraternal  encounter with the Cubans working and living in Ehiopia, as well as the former Ethiopian students identified themselves as Ethio-Cubans.

The Cuban leader explained the recent developments in the country after the approval of the new Constitution and the immediate plans in order to secure a strong economic base for the present and future of the Cuban nation.
