Tehran, September 17, 2019. Ambassador Héctor Igarza Cabrera, Director of North and Middle East Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, made a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which included an intense and tight agenda of on September 15 and 16 in Tehran. Accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Iran, Alexis Bandrich Vega, the director Igarza Cabrera was received by S.E. Gholamreza Ansari, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs and the Director General for the Americas, Mr. Mohsen Baharvand, with whom he exchanged important issues on the bilateral agenda and the willingness of both countries to advance and deepen the ties that bind us.
The Cuban diplomat was also received by his counterparts in the Persian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the director general for the Arab Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Hamidreza Dehghani and Mr. Alireza Enayati, general director for the Persian Gulf, a scenario that resulted conducive to exchange on the current situation in our regions.
At another time during his visit, the director of Africa and the Middle East of the Cuban Foreign Ministry was received at the headquarters of the Pasteur Institute of Iran with which the scientific entities of Cuba have a long and fraternal bond of cooperation, as well as held a meeting with Dr. Mahmoud Alebouyeh, director of international relations of the Food and Drug Administration of Iran working with his Cuban counterpart CECMED in the implementation of the important Memorandum of Understanding signed during the XVII session of the Iran-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, held in Havana in January of this year.
