New York, 30 September 2020. On 28 September 2020, Secretary of State of the United States of America Mike Pompeo announced the tightening of the blockade against Cuba with measures that increase the economic suffocation of the Cuban people, by including American International Services (AIS), which processes remittances to Cuba, in the Cuba Restricted List prepared by the State Department.
Less than a week after introducing new restrictions to US citizens´ travel to Cuba and the import of Cuban tobacco and rum, the President Trump´s government is committed to further restricting the remittances that Cubans receive from relatives and friends.
With the rapid and frequent imposition of these new sanctions against Cuba, the desperation of the Trump administration to influence the electoral machinery of south Florida is evident. Unfortunately, these measures only harm Cuban and US citizens of Cuban origin.
Despite these measures, Cuba and its people advance in their fight against COVID-19 with the support and solidarity of the majority of the international community.
