Until further notice, Cuban travelers are exempted from consular procedures for the extension of their stay abroad.

Informative note

As we have already reported, Cuban citizens who are abroad and had approved extensions of stay or had the 24-month term expiring as of March 19, 2020, may stay abroad until October 12, 2021, preserving their resident status in the national territory.

The Minister of Transportation announced on October 16, 2020, the start of air operations at all international airports in Cuba, except at “José Martí” International Airport, in Havana, which implies that there are still limitations on flights that hinder the return of Cuban citizens residing in the country.

Based on the above, it has been extended the possibility that our nationals return to the country without having to carry out the consular procedure to extend their stay abroad as long as this situation persists.
