Hands Off Cuba!
Condemning the U.S. government's decision to include Cuba in the list of “state sponsors of terrorism”
The Hellenic-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity of Thessaloniki clearly and unequivocally condemns the recent decision of the government of the United States of America to re-include Cuba in the notorious U.S State Department's list of “state sponsors of terrorism”.
This is a vicious and provocative act, taking into account that the U.S. governments are, for many decades, the big arch-terrorist of the people, with imperialist interventions, wars and coups in every corner of the world.
Cuba and the people of Latin America in general are victims of the U.S. imperialist terrorism which is responsible for hundreds of military interventions, overthrows of legally elected governments, support of dictatorial regimes, funding of terrorist groups, etc.
A major issue is the time period that has been chosen by Trump's outgoing government in order to publicize this unacceptable decision. In the background of the recent events in the U.S. Capitol and entrapped in the intra-bourgeois fights within the United States, the American government once again tries to slander Cuba.
It is not accidental at all that this is happening in a period when Cuba is in the international spotlight and acknowledgment both for the successful tackling of the Pandemic in the country, as well as for its significant internationalist contribution through the “Henry Reeve” Medical Brigade. Furthermore, the Cuba of 11 million inhabitants, facing the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the U.S. for more than 60 years, is the only country in Latin America which is developing vaccines against Covid-19.
This is what “terrorizes” the U.S. imperialists and their allies: The emergence of the superiority of the socialist central planning and the existence of the public, fully accessible healthcare system, in contrast with the “ruins” of commercialized-privatized healthcare in the U.S., the EU and the other capitalist countries.
The Hellenic-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity of Thessaloniki expresses its full solidarity to the people and the government of Cuba and calls the working men and women, the youth and all the people of our city and Northern Greece to stand by the side of the Cuban people, condemning the aggressive and provocative policy of the United States.
On behalf of the Admin. Board,
PRESIDENT SECRETARY GENERAL
