Monrovia, October 31st, 2018-, The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia, Mr. Bhofal Chambers, received on Wednesday the Cuban Chargé d'Affaires, Yordenis Despaigne Vera. The exchange took place in the framework of the courtesy visit made by the latter to say goodbye due to the end of his mission in Liberia. During the meeting was also present the Second Secretary Carmen Maury Toledo.
In fraternal dialogue, the Liberian high political leader highlighted the performance of the Cuban diplomat, of whom he said "your country should feel proud". At the same time, he underscored Cuba's commitment to Africa, from its processes of decolonization and independence and more currently the reconstruction, growth and development of nations through the training of professionals in the Greater Antilles and the presence of Cuban professionals, especially medical personnel on the continent. According to the leader of the parliamentary lower house, "Cuba is an important reference in the world and has demonstrated its commitment to the neediest".
For his part, the young Caribbean diplomat, thanked the Speaker for his words of praise, while noting the substantial support that Liberia, his government and his people have given to the growth and strengthening of relations between both countries, particularly the Cuba's fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by almost 60 years by the governments of the United States. It was an occasion to ratify the commitment of the Cuban government and people in the accompaniment of the reconstruction process of Liberia, from its possibilities and resources and to reiterate the willingness to promote the diversification of cooperation areas, for the benefit of both countries.
