Vienna, February 20, 2018. Dr. Thomas Drozda, President of the Culture Commission of the Austrian Federal Parliament, received the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba in that country, Marieta García Jordán, in a cordial meeting at the legislative headquarters.
The Cuban diplomat highlighted the positive moment in which relations between Cuba and the European Union are found, with the beginning of the provisional implementation of the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation (ADPC) signed between Cuba and the European bloc last year and thanked Austria's support for this process. The Agreement is in the process of being ratified by the Parliaments of the Member States of the EU, including that of Austria.
He also offered updated information on Cuba, in particular regarding the general election process, of great interest to the Austrian Parliamentarian.
Drozda is a member of the board of the Fraction of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ), and held the position of Federal Minister of Culture, until December 2017. At the meeting he expressed his admiration for Cuban culture and the interest in knowing it directly through the visit of a delegation.
