Jakarta, June 15- At the Headquarters of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Tania Velázquez López, was received on a courtesy call by its President, H.E. Mr. Bambang Soesatyo.
Once congratulating the Cuban diplomat for the recent presentation of her credentials, the President of the Consultative Assembly noted the 60 years of bilateral ties and the sustained parliamentary, sports and cultural exchanges, based on mutual feelings of friendship lauched by their historical leaders: Fidel Castro and Ackmed Soekarno.
The President of the People's Consultative Assembly, also referred to the close multilateral consultation maintained by both nations during all these years, both within the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries and in other international forums. He underlined the Cuban health system as one of the best in the world, while highlighting the development achieved by the small Caribbean nation in the biotechnology area, valuing its potential for cooperation with Indonesia, especially in the current fight against the pandemic caused, by Covid-19.
Supporting what was expressed by Mr. Bambang, the Cuban diplomat stated that, once the test of more than half a century of relations has been passed, the current bilateral challenge lies in consolidating what has been achieved and raising the level of economic-commercial activity, exploring new opportunities.
In this sense, She ratified the possibilities that open up for commercial exchanges in the areas of health, biotechnology, sports, tourism, agriculture and investment, for which he offered information about the ZED Mariel, the facilities it offers to foreign companies and about Cuban biotechnological products, including those that are being used with very good results on the Island and in several countries around the world, as part of the medical protocol in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
