Petition to Canadian Parliament to call for an end to the US blockade against Cuba.

Ottawa, May 10, 2020 - Stéphane Bergeron, Member of Parliament and Foreign Affairs Critic for the Bloc Québécois Party, authorized the registration in the House of Commons of the petition of a Quebec citizen in favour of lifting the US blockade against Cuba.

The petition requests the government of Canada, through the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to demand the United States government to lift the blockade on Cuba.

The text refers to the fact that the blockade against Cuba has been in force for 60 years and that Canada has opposed this policy. It also recognizes our country's work in confronting COVID-19 by sending health professionals to several countries to help combat the pandemic.

This petition is addressed to Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Canada and will be open for signature until September 4, 2020.

Canada has traditionally supported and voted in favour of the Cuban resolution before the General Assembly of the United Nations: "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba".
