Pan-African trade union organization confirms solidarity with Cuba and condemns the blockade

The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, visited the headquarters of the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), where he was received by the Secretary General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, who in his words expressed his respect for the Cuban Revolution, and its historical leaders, especially the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and the Commander, Ernesto Ché Guevara, whom he met during his youth in his native Algeria.

The Secretary General was accompanied at the meeting by the Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Emmanuel Nzunda, and the Treasurer General, Mr. Ibrahim Abrar Ibrahim. All expressed their rejection of the blockade, which they described as genocide and unsuccessful attempt against a worthy people.

The Ambassador of Cuba, thanked the solidarity of the Pan-African trade union leaders, and updated them on the new measures taken by the current administration, aimed at strengthening the blockade. He also reiterated the will of the Cuban people to continue building a just society, without external interference. In the interview, where the First Secretary of the Embassy was also, other issues of the international situation were addressed.

The OATUU, whose headquarters are in Accra, is a Pan-African trade union umbrella, where organizations from 55 countries of the continent are represented, including the Trades Union Congress Ghana (TUC), and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU).

It is the second time in less than a week that the Cuban Ambassador exchanged with the Secretary General of OATUU, who recently visited the Cuban Embassy in Accra.
