New York, 16 October 2020. The new Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, presented his credentials in a virtual ceremony due to the conditions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic on the UN Headquarters.
Pedroso Cuesta is a graduate of the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations (1987) and holds a Master´s Degree in National Defense.
He was a member of Cuban delegations to several sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, numerous international meetings and conferences, such as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development and on Small Island Developing States. He extensively participated in climate change negotiations.
He also served as Deputy Director of Multilateral Affairs and Director-General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
He was appointed Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Environment Program and UN-Habitat.
When appointed, he served as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations, with the rank of Ambassador.
