New Cuban Envoy presents her Letters of Credence to the President of Indonesia

Jakarta, June 10- At a solemn ceremony, H. E. Mrs. Tania Velázquez López, presented to the President, H.E. Joko Widodo, her Letters of Credence, accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to this sister nation.

The presentation of letters of Credence of the Cuban Ambassador occurs precisely the year in which Indonesia and Cuba celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties and 60 years after the historical visit to Cuba of the founding president of Indonesia, Ackmed Soekarno, first chief of State to visit the Caribbean Island after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

During the event, which took place at the Merdeka Palace, fulfilling a strict health protocol due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that did not include verbal exchange, Letters of Credence were also presented by ambassadors of Guatemala, Brazil, Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Mauritania.

At the ceremony, President Jokowi was accompanied by the Indonesian Foreign Minister, H.E Mrs. Retno L. P. Marsudi, who after the ceremony made a video call to the Cuban Ambassador.
