Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. April 19, 2019. The new Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia, Mr. N.Tserenbat, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Raúl Delgado Concepción, at the Government Palace in a working meeting whose main objective was give continuity to the strengthening of relations in this important sector for both countries. The Cuban Ambassador updated the Minister on tourism development on the island and the challenges facing the sector today considered the engine of the current Cuban economy from the sustained increase in the arrival of tourists to Cuba.
The signature last January in Havana, of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba (CITMA) and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia for cooperation in the field of protection of the environment, constitutes the real will of both countries to protect nature and face environmental problems as a whole.
During the meeting, Minister N.Tserenbat expressed his confidence that the cooperation between both institutions in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development is of mutual benefit and will further promote friendly relations between the two countries. The Minister then indicated that the identification and execution of projects in environmental management, conservation of natural resources, management of protected areas, the confrontation to climate change, disaster risk reduction (including those of geological origin), environmental education and renewable energy sources are among the objectives of this cooperation with Cuba.
In the sphere of Tourism, the highest Mongolian authority recognized Cuba's advances in industry and the possibility of training human resources of Mongolia based on the experience acquired by Cuba in the different branches of the hotel and tourism sector.
The Ambassador for his part thanked Minister N. Tserenbat for the work meeting and invited the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia to evaluate the possibility of participating in the International Tourism Fair of Cuba, FITCuba 2019, from May 6 to 11. of 2019, or in the XII International Convention on Environment and Development to be held between July 1 and July 5, 2019 at the Havana Convention Center.
