Kingston, Jamaica, December 14th, 2017. As an first level expertise in the region and the world qualified the Minister of Local Government and Community Development of Jamaica, Desmond A. McKenzie, the preparedness and response of Cuba to natural disasters which are every day more common in the Caribbean area.
During the cordial meeting between the Jamaican official and the Cuban Ambassador, Ines Fors Fernandez, the minister expressed the desire of his ministry and government to implement potential accords for cooperation in the area, within a context that the effects of climate change are strngly felt in the small Caribbean states.
The Minister of Local Government offered an update on the main objectives and tasks carried out by his ministry. He also recalled the different and fruitful visits carried out to Cuba while being the Mayor of Kingston-St. Andrew.
McKenzie, also member of the Parliament of Jamaica, availed the opportunity to thank for the presence of tens of Cuban health collaborators in the Kingston's area he represents as legislator.
The Cuban Ambassador praised the warm welcome, ratified the willingness of her government to support in the training of Jamaican specialists in the response to natural disasters and finally highlighted the support offered by the Cuban people to the Caribbean nations.
