Monrovia, December 3, 2020 - In commemoration of the Latin American Medicine Day, the Cuban Mission Chief in Liberia Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, received the Liberian students selected to study medicine in Cuba through the governmental Cuba-Liberia scholarship plan.
At the meeting, the Cuban diplomat referred to the achievements made by the Caribbean island in the fields of health and education and highlighted the internationalism of our doctors, which has been a principle of Cuban public health throughout its development and has been present as an indisputable pillar of the prestige achieved before the world.
She described as unfair and unacceptable the constant attacks against our medical collaboration by the United States government, which seeks to denigrate the altruistic work that for almost six decades has been carried out by professionals in the sector.
She condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade that for years has been imposed on us by the different governments of the United States, and which has an economic impact on the health system.
He ended his speech by saying that to the great regret of the United States government and its mercenaries, of their actions and the campaigns they promote against Cuba, our country is living in conditions of security and normality, and with the COVID-19 under control.
