Lefkada, June 14. It was opened the photo exhibition "With Greece in the heart", from the amateur lens of the Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Greece José Oriol Marrero Martinez, with his photos of some sites of Greece, which were mentioned by the national hero of Cuba Jose Marti in his writings , and with many of whose texts in Spanish and Greek showed viewers what the Apostle of Cuba thought about the "mother Greece" who so loved.
This exhibition, in its second presentation, (because the first one was in Athens on June 6), was organized by the Embassy of Cuba in the headquarters of the Cultural Center of Lefkada, Greek island in the Ionian Sea, in the framework of the annual Festival LEA (Hispanic American literature in Athens) and was done in tribute to José Martí, the most universal of the Cuban people, in the year of the 60th anniversary of the Cuban revolution.
In the event took the floor the vice President of the Cultural Center Spiros Arvanitis, the Ambassador of Cuba Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina that thanks attendees and noted the historical coincidence of this cultural action of friendship, with the birth of Heroes Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Che Guevara, a June 14 with a century of difference.
The author of the exhibition made a wide and interesting explanation to the public of the texts and the photographs shown, which are the result of intense and unpublished research work which he performed extensive on-the writings of Marti, to find those rays of light on Greece.
In his work, - explained-, Martí showed his deep love of Greece and his admiration for the struggle of the Greek people for their freedom, which was considered a source of inspiration for the struggle of the Cuban people for their independence in the 19th century. Martí spoke about the Greek, but not only on temples, fortresses, landscape, statues, heroes and philosophers but in addition to the human work and libertarian values of a people who he admired.
At the end of the activity, it was the performance of the Cuban and master guitar musician's resident in Lefkada René Soler, who entertained the activity with Cuban songs, among which was Until Forever Commander (Hasta siempre Comandante) dedicated to Che Guevara.
It was attended by over 50 people, among which were representatives of various political forces of the Greek society, mayors, Cuban residents, friends of Cuba from different spheres of society and in general audience to LEA Festival.
This sample is an important step in the strengthening of cultural links between Cuba and Greece.
