The Greek publishing house (TOPOS) has just launched a new book on Cuba in Greece composed of more than 50 articles by different Greek and Cuban authors. It has 479 pages, as well as graphic and photographic material.
The collective work includes a 23-page article that analyzes and illustrates the historical internationalist practice of the Cuban people, with an emphasis on the Cuban military internationalist epic in Africa, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Operation "Carlota". The author was José Oriol Marrero Martinez, counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Greece and internationalist combatant in Angola´s war. The article is dedicated to the memory of the fallen brothers in the fulfillment of internationalist missions, and to the contemporary struggle against the misrepresentation and manipulation of the historical truth about this heroic feat. Its publication has happily coincided with Nelson Mandela International Day.
The article also addresses the presence of a contingent of Cuban internationalist fighters in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939); as well as the active presence of Cuban doctors in different parts of the world in recent decades, fighting for the health and lives of millions of human beings, as has happened with the around 30 Cuban medical brigades that have fought or fought COVID-19 in the world.
A chapter is dedicated to reviewing the timely and concrete assistance provided by not a few Cubans on the island to the war for national independence of the United States of America.
