Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs, Majid Takht Ravanchi, hosted a lunch in honor of Cuban Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada, as part of his farewell.
By the Iranian side, the Director of the Second Department for the Americas and other officials at the Persian Foreign Ministry were also participated in the banquet. For his part, the Cuban diplomat was accompanied by the Ambassador of Nicaragua and dean of the Latin American Group, as well as the Ambassador of Ecuador and the Chargé d'Affaires of Argentina.
In the friendly meeting, in addition to addressing current regional and international issues, Ravanchi and Vladimir noted that during the last four years the bilateral relations between Cuba and Iran recorded relevant moments that contributed to its consolidation. In this regard, there was a fruitful exchange of official visits, highlighting the stays in Havana of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and President of the Islamic Republic, Hassan Rohaní. Likewise, the XVI session of the Cuba-Iran Intergovernmental Commission was held in the Island.
Both sides also agreed that, regardless of the excellent level of bilateral ties, other potentialities could still be exploited in respective countries to develop cooperation projects in different fields, including the economic and commercial one.
The Deputy Minister praised and thanked the Ambassador's work during his mission in Iran and wished him success in the new responsibilities assigned to him in his country. He also gave him a diploma of recognition signed by Foreign Minister Zarif.
