Ottawa, January 14, 2021 - Associations of Cuban residents and organizations in solidarity with Cuba in Canada have issued statements in recent days rejecting the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism by the United States.
The Associations of Cuban Residents in Canada condemned the inclusion of Cuba on the spurious list of countries that sponsor terrorism and emphasized that "Cuba has been for more than 60 years a victim of terrorism, which is sponsored precisely by the United States… thousands of deaths, injuries and considerable damage to the country's economy is the price that our Homeland has had to pay".
On the other hand, the Canadian Network on Cuba, in a statement entitled "When the Victimizer Blames the Victim, No to the Latest U.S. Aggression Against Cuba" vigorously condemned the deceitful designation of Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism by the Trump regime, which was described as an opportunistic and cynical act, recalling that it is Cuba that has been the victim of all manner of terrorist attacks that have been carried out against the island with the complicity, participation, and sponsorship of Washington.
At the same time, the Canadian Peace Congress echoed the statement issued by the World Peace Council, in which it denounced this cynical and hypocritical action, which aims to impose new unilateral coercive measures against Cuba and its people and to defame a country that has practiced genuine and disinterested solidarity, and is a source of inspiration for all the poor and oppressed peoples of the world.
