THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE CYPRIOT PARTY AKEL RECEIVES CUBAN AMBASSADOR.
Cyprus. - February 27, 2018. The General Secretary of the Workers' Progressive Party (AKEL, according to its acronym in Greek), Andros Kyprianou, received the Cuban Ambassador, Omar Leyva, at the headquarters of the organization in Nicosia.
In the framework of the meeting the diplomat thanked, on behalf of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and his people, the unconditional support of AKEL and in particular its position of claim to the end of the unjust blockade of the United States of America against the Antillean Island.
On the other hand, they discussed the implementation of the Cuban economic and social model of socialist development, the elective process that is being carried out in Cuba, as well as possible ways of cooperation in various areas, with special emphasis on strengthening the links between AKEL and the PCC.
For his part, Kyprianou made an update on the Cypriot territorial problem, as well as referred to the recently completed electoral process that took place in the country between the end of January and the beginning of March. The Head of International Relations and European Affairs of AKEL, Vera Policarpou, also participated in the meeting.
