Friends of Cuba in Oamaru condemn economic war and US blockade

Oamaru, July 17th, 2019. During his visit to this city, Ambassador Mario Alzugaray Rodríguez held a meeting with friends of Cuba, who condemned the aggressive escalation and the economic war of the United States government against the Greater Antilles. They also expressed their rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that for 60 years has been imposed on the Island, confirming their solidarity and support to the Cuban people.

During the meeting both parties exchanged about multiple international issues, as well as bilateral, noting the interest in supporting stronger links between Cuba and New Zealand.

Those present had multiple expressions of praise for the Cuban education system, along with other social impact projects promoted by the government.

From April 15 to 29, 2018, students of St Kevin College made a trip to Cuba, organized by the geography teacher, Michelle Buckham. As a result of this experience, in November of the same year, an exhibition was organized with the photographs taken by the group of students, whose inauguration was attended by the Cuban Ambassador.
