Jakarta, June 14- After the presentation ceremony for her letters of credence, Ambassador Tania Velázquez López, received a video call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mrs. Retno L. P. Marsudi, who congratulated and wished success to the Cuban diplomat.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister also welcomed to increase bilateral cooperation in the areas of health, biotechnology, sports and agriculture. Likewise, she expressed the will of her Government to promote economic-commercial ties, through the Working Group on Trade and Investment that will be established shortly.
For her part, the Cuban Ambassador reaffirmed her willingness to work to strengthen multilateral coordination, historic political ties, and to develop economic-commercial ones. Also acknowledged Indonesia for its unwavering support in the just battle of the Cuban people against the US blockade.
In 2020 Indonesia and Cuba celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, 61 years of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara's visit to Jakarta, as Special Envoy of the former prime minister of the Republic of Cuba Fidel Castro, and 60 years of the historical visit to Cuba of the founding president of Indonesia, Ackmed Soekarno.
