Encounter between the Cuban Ambassador in Sweden and the Swedish Cooperation State Secretary.

The Cuban Ambassador in Sweden, Alba Soto Pimentel, held a meeting with Janine Alm Ericson, Secretary of State of the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation.

Issues of interest to both parties were addressed, particularly the potential to expand collaboration in other areas.

The Cuban Ambassador highlighted the positive results of the cooperation projects that are being developed between the respective countries, and conveyed to the counterpart Cuba's willingness to continue diversifying the spheres in which the collaboration is developed. Likewise, he mentioned the possibility of establishing mechanisms for triangular cooperation. The representative of Cuba also explained aspects related to the strategy to confront the pandemic in Cuba; as well as the serious effects that the intensification of the blockade generates for the establishment of cooperation relations with third countries, as well as other measures such as the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of countries that support terrorism.

The Swedish Secretary of State referred to the Cooperation Strategy for Cuba approved by the Government of her country last year, for the period 2021-2025, which is in its final configuration phase.

The dialogue took place in a constructive environment, with the parties' interest in continuing exchanges, with due observance of health protocols being marked.

At the meeting, the Cuban diplomat was accompanied by the Third Secretary, Víctor García.
