CYPRUS FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES CUBAN AMBASSADOR
Nicosia, October 5, 2017. – The Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, welcomed the Cuban ambassador, Aramis Fuente Hernandez, on his farewell visit on concluding his mission on this Mediterranean island.
During the fraternal meeting, there was an exchange of views on the positive state of bilateral relations, and the good level achieved by the two countries, which have a long history and a promising future perspective, which has been achieved because they are based on genuine and sincere affection and solidarity.
The Foreign Minister ratified the friendship of the Cypriot government and people towards Cuba and its well-known position against the blockade, confirming that Cyprus will always oppose sanctions of a unilateral character in the margin of the Security Council of the UN and the European Union.
The Ambassador reiterated Cuba's support and solidarity with the just cause of the Cypriot people and thanked the traditional position of Cyprus in favor of lifting the United States economic, financial and commercial blockade against its country, as well as the support to the resolution which has been overwhelmingly approved during the last 25 years in the General Assembly of the United Nations, which calls for an end to this unjust, arbitrary and extraterritorial policy.
The Cuban representative thanked the Foreign Minister and through him, the Cypriot authorities for the facilities offered and the support received during the performance of his duties.
