Cuba’s friends commemorate Fidel's 91st birthday in Tehran

In coordination with the Cuban Embassy in Tehran, the Iran-Cuba Friendship Association organized an evening to commemorate the 91st birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

The activity was led by Association President, Hadi Khansari, and Cuban Ambassador, Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada. Among the attendees were diplomats representing the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), headed by the Nicaraguan Ambassador and Dean of the Latin American Group, Mario Barquero Baltonado, as well as Ambassador of Venezuela, Jesús González González.

To begin the commemoration, Khansari read an article he wrote and published in several Iranian media about the universal reach of Fidel's revolutionary personality and the major achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

For his part, Ambassador Vladimir intervened to reflect on the man who dedicated his life to build and defend a revolution of the humble, by the humble and for the humble, as defined by Fidel himself. He also made a biographical review of the Commander-in-Chief, quoted phrases from prominent personalities in front of the impact of his death in November 2016 and concluded his speech recalling the concept of revolution released by Fidel on May 1st, 2000.

After members of the Association recited poems dedicated to the outstanding revolutionary leader, Khansari accompanied by the Ambassador and the other diplomats representing the ALBA-TCP cut a cake for the occasion.
