Cuban Ambassador to Sweden held exchange with President of Parliament

In the context of her recent arrival in the country, the Cuban Ambassador to Sweden, Alba Soto Pimentel, held a courtesy exchange with the President of Parliament, Andreas Norlén. Due to the hygienic-sanitary measures established by the pandemic, the meeting took place virtually.

During the exchange, the parties talked about the respective work experiences of their parliaments and how to carry out the ties between. Both spoke on the current situation of the two countries; the current pandemic situation facing the world; Cuba's efforts in the production of its own medicines and vaccines and the willingness to carry out exchanges in the scientific sphere and biotechnology; human rights and democracy; environmental protection, and the US blockade against Cuba, were part of the exchange.

Regarding this last issue, the diplomat ratified Cuba's decision to present once again at the UNGA, the Cuban draft resolution that denounces it and demands its lifting, for which Cuba hopes to have the overwhelming and usual international support. The Ambassador thanked the traditional support that Sweden, as a Member State of the European Union, has given to this Resolution.

The Vice President of Parliament, Lotta Johnson, also participated in the meeting.
