The Ambassador of Cuba to New Zealand, Edgardo Valdés, met Wellington Mayor Andy Foster at the local government headquarters. Wellington City Counselor Nicola Young and Senior International Relations Advisor Amber Walters also participated.
Mayor Foster showed a genuine interest in learning about Cuba and the exchange lasted for an hour. They talked about possible forms of cooperation and, in addition to his support for the Latin American and Spanish Film Festival that takes place every year, the Mayor welcomed the idea of Cuban artists participating in the cultural festivals that take place in Wellington. The Ambassador invited him to visit Cuba and directly explore new forms of cooperation. (Embacuba NZ)
