Kingston, Jamaica, 16 October 2020. The Minister of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, Dr. the Honourable Christopher Tufton, had a fruitful virtual meeting yesterday afternoon with the Cuban Ambassador Inés Fors Fernandez. During the exchange, the Jamaican Minister of Health thanked the diplomat for the contribution of the Greatest Island in the Antilles to the public health sector in Jamaica.
Tufton expressed his country’s will to continue promoting exchange and cooperation in the health sector.
For her part, the Ambassador reiterated her congratulations to the Minister for his recent re-election as Minister of Health and as a member of the Jamaican Parliament.
Cuba and Jamaica have had fruitful cooperation in this field since 1976. Currently, 419 Cuban healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, biomedical engineers and health technologists, provide medical care throughout the Jamaican territory.
